Tax Exemption Policy

Overview

Sales tax is applied to orders by default when required under applicable state and local law. Tax-exempt treatment is only granted after we receive and review valid exemption documentation that applies to the purchaser and the state where the order is shipped.

We review requests carefully to help ensure compliance. Submitting a request does not automatically create tax-exempt status, and approval must be completed before the exemption can be applied to future orders.

Who Qualifies for Tax Exemption

Tax exemption may be available to qualifying purchasers, including:

  • Government entities, including federal, state, and local agencies
  • Nonprofit organizations with valid exemption status
  • Other entities that qualify for exemption under applicable state law

Businesses, contractors, resellers, and bulk buyers do not automatically qualify for tax exemption. Eligibility depends on the type of exemption claimed, the supporting documentation provided, and the laws of the state tied to the transaction.

Required Documentation

To request tax-exempt status, you must provide valid documentation, which may include:

  • A current tax exemption certificate, resale certificate, or other approved exemption document
  • Documentation that includes the same legal name and business or organization details used on the account
  • Proof that the exemption is valid in the state where the order will be billed or shipped, as applicable

Incomplete, expired, altered, or mismatched documents may delay review or result in denial of the request.

How to Request Tax-Exempt Status

  1. Create your customer account using the same email address you want approved for tax-exempt ordering.
  2. Complete the request form on this page and attach your exemption certificate or supporting documents.
  3. Wait for approval before placing an order if you want tax-exempt status applied.

Approval is required before sales tax can be removed from eligible future orders. Submitting this form does not guarantee approval, and incomplete or invalid submissions may be rejected.

Important Notes

  • Orders placed before approval will include sales tax when applicable.
  • Sales tax will not be removed retroactively unless required by law.
  • We reserve the right to reject invalid, incomplete, expired, or unsupported documentation.

If your exemption status changes, becomes invalid, or no longer applies to a transaction, tax may be charged on future orders.
